If you
use a professional
installer/technician, please print
this page and provide it to the
installer/technician when he arrives
to install your system. |
Although the
installation of a Spiritcast Satellite System
may be easy for some, it's always recommended
that you hire a professional installer to ensure
proper installation and grounding. If you
require a local installer, you may visit
www.mylocalinstaller.com, or you can contact
us by
email, fax, or phone, and we will be glad to
provide you with a list of local installers and
technicians who may be qualified to install your
system. Please note, that installation fees may
vary between $75.00-$175.00 made payable
directly to the installer/technician.
Most experienced
installers/technicians who are qualified for
this type of install, will be able to tell you
as soon as you tell them the type of system you
have.

Your Spiritcast Satellite Receiver
Your new SpiritCast satellite receiver is pre-programmed to
view all SpiritCast satellite channels broadcasting off of
the 2 satellites above. Since your receiver is
pre-programmed for SpiritCast, the receiver remains locked with
a password. Please DO NOT try to enter or
change any of the settings inside the receiver.
Changing or modifying any information inside the
receiver will result in undesired operation, and
is NOT covered under warranty. If you modify or
change any settings inside of your satellite
receiver, you may be required to send your
receiver back and have it reprogrammed. A $25.00
reprogramming fee + shipping and handling fee
will be charged.
PLEASE DO NOT DO A FACTORY DEFAULT ON YOUR
SATELLITE RECEIVER. DOING SO WILL ERASE ALL
PROGRAMMING AND WILL CAUSE YOU TO HAVE TO SEND
THE RECEIVER BACK TO GET RE-PROGRAMMED AT THE
RATE OF $25.00 PLUS S&H BACK TO YOU.
Your
Spiritcast Satellite Dish
Your new satellite dish is 76cm in diameter.
Please make sure there are no big dings or dents
in the satellite dish caused by shipping. Large
dings and dents may cause your satellite dish
antenna not to receive proper signal. Please
make sure to follow instructions in this packet
for proper mounting and positioning of your
satellite dish antenna.
Your Spiritcast Satellite LNBF
Your Tracker LNBF is one of the best LNBF’s in
the satellite industry. It is high gain with a
low noise figure of 0.3dB for maximum signal
reception and works great in fringe areas.
Although Spiritcast offers technical
support to all of our customers, and the
installation of a Ku band satellite system may
be easy for some, it's always recommended that
you hire a professional installer to ensure
proper installation and grounding. If you
require a local installer, you may visit
www.mylocalinstaller.com or you can
contact us by email, fax, or phone, and we will
be glad to provide you with a list of local
installers and technicians who may be qualified
to install your system. Please note, that
installation fees may vary between
$75.00-$175.00 made payable directly to the
installer/technician.
Most experienced installers/technicians who are
qualified for this type of install, will be able
to tell you “Yes” as soon as you tell them the
type of system you have.
Satellite Antenna Installation Tips
Choosing the Site for
Spiritcast Dish Installation
The first thing you need to do is choose
the installation site. The area must have a
clear "line of sight" to the satellite. This
means there can be no obstruction between
the dish and the satellite. This includes
building, tree branches, mountain, etc. In
order to receive a good signal, select an
outdoor site with a clear, unobstructed view
of the South, Southeast, or Southwest,
depending on your location. In most cases,
eastern United States will need a clear line
of site of southwestern sky. Central United
States needs a clear line of site of the
southern sky, and the west coast will need a
clear line of site towards the south eastern
sky. If you install the dish in the winter,
leaves that are normally on the branches may
not be present. A problem with reception may
occur when the leaves grow back in the
spring and summer. If there is no area on
your house that has a clear view of the
satellite, then you may have to purchase a
pipe from your local hardware store, and
secure the pipe in the ground (a little bag
of cement would ensure the security of the
pipe), in your yard. Then mount the dish on
that pipe. Make sure that the pipe has the
same outside diameter as the pipe provided
with the dish.
At this point you should have mounted
the Mount Foot to its desired location. Next,
Attach the Mount Pipe to the Mount Foot. Insert
the Stand Pipe between the two ears of the Mount
Bracket. It is best to use a level to make sure
that the Pipe is exactly vertical to the ground.
Ensure that both the pivot bolt and the
adjustment bolt are in place. This will make it
easy to dial in the satellite.
Now, place the assembled dish with Feed Support
and LNB onto the pipe.
Setting up your
Spiritcast Satellite Receiver
Now that you have mounted your satellite dish,
it’s time to setup your receiver before you
start aligning your satellite dish. Bring a
small TV out by your satellite dish along with
your satellite receiver. Make sure you hook up
all the wires before turning on the
receiver. Turning on your receiver first,
then connecting wires, may cause your LNBF or
receiver to burn out. Since your receiver is
already pre-programmed based on the criteria
when you placed your order, setting it up will
be very simple. Simply tune your receiver to
channel number 1. Then press the OK button on
your receiver. This will bring up a channel
list along with 2 bars on the top left hand side
of your receiver. Top bar is a level bar, and
the bottom bar is your quality bar. More than
likely, you will have about 50% on your level
bar and 0% on your quality bar. This is
normal. In fact, you don’t have to pay
attention to your level bar at all.
Final adjustment to your satellite dish
You have 3 settings on your satellite dish. 1)
Elevation, which measures up and down, can be
adjusted from the back of your dish. 2) Azimuth,
which is adjusting your dish from left to right
or right to left (East to West or West to
East). 3) Polarization which is adjusted by
your LNBF. Standing in front of your satellite
dish, looking at the dish, if you are in the
west coast, the bottom of the LNBF where the
connector is must be positioned between 6 &7
O’clock. If you are in central USA, it should
be strait down, and if you are in the East
Coast, it should be rotated so that the
connector is between 5 & 6 O’ clock.

Now that you know your azimuth, elevation and
polarization angles, you are ready to point the
dish and check for signal.
Finally, using a
compass, point the dish to the appropriate
direction (azimuth). Hold the compass
horizontally in your hand in front of you.
Ensure that you are at an adequate distance away
from any metal object that may give you a false
compass indication. As you hold the compass,
allow the compass needle to stop moving. Once it
has stabilized, the arrow or red end of the
compass needle should point toward the North.
Gently rotate the compass such that the 0-degree
mark on the compass scale sits under the arrow,
or red end of the needle, pointing toward the
North.
The satellite is located over 23,000 miles away
and the installation does require precise tuning
and a great deal of patience to correctly
install.
Now start turning the dish slowly
based on your azimuth and elevation. Please
note, since the satellite dish has to make a
direct line of site with the satellite located
23,000 miles away, even if you are off by ¼
inch, you are pointing to about 300-500 miles
away from the satellite.
Once you get the signal locked in, your quality
bar will jump to about 50%-60%. Don’t be
surprised if your level bar goes down to 23%.
Since the level bar only measures noise, it’s
absolutely normal to get a low reading on the
level bar.
Once you have locked in your satellite signal,
make sure everything is tight so wind does not
move your satellite dish out of alignment. Now
press exit, finish routing your cable, and
proceed to enjoying a world of great
entertainment programs with your brand new
Spiritcast Satellite System.
